4-H Tours Both Farmer Russell and his wife Holly were active participants in their local 4-H Club. This provided them with many great experiences. This tour was developed to share their farming lifestyle with youngsters that may not otherwise get to see life on a farm. This tour option is available for students to visit the farm or for Farmer Russell to come to your club or school. Either option allows the teacher to select topics for his or her students to meet their group's needs.
Choose from the following topics to customize your tour: • animal husbandry • milking as a career opportunity • breeding practices • soil care and conservation • calf care • marketing, distribution, and supply and demand • cow nutrition
Farm Tour Activities: • Tour the facilities • See the cows being milked • Enjoy a hayride to the pasture • Farm equipment from the past and present • Enjoy a dairy treat • Question and Answer time with Farmer Russell
Farmer Russell comes to your club or school: Set up for this type of tour usually takes about 30 minutes. Farmer Russell will bring large photos and a power point demonstration outlining daily farm life. Topics can be customized with advanced notice. The general power point covers milking, cow nutrition, crops, and animal husbandry.
